Login to the vCloud Networking and Security Manager (vShield Manager) Select the DHCP tab Click Plus in the DHCP Pools section Enter the DHCP Pool configuration Click Add Click Enable to activate DHCP After enabling, click Publish Changes for all configuration options to be sent to the Edge Device
How to configure a Load Balancer using vCloud Networking and Security Edge device (vShield)

This post will show you the steps required to configure the Edge device to act as a Load Balancer. This is particularly useful if you are deploying multiple vCloud Director cells. Login to the vCloud Networking and Security Manager (formerly and still called vShield Manager) Select Edges from the View drop down on the left hand side You will see a list of Edge devices deployed, select the one you want to use and click the configure icon, and select Manage Select Load Balancer from the Edge configuration window Click the Plus icon to create a new pool of servers that this Edge device will balance the load across You will be prompted with the Add Pool wizard Enter a name for this pool of servers and a description Select the services, load balancing policy, and enter the port details that will be used in this pool Under Health check, you can configure what services should be monitored for availability. How to deploy a vCloud Networking and Security edge device
Today I have been working in the lab messing around with vCloud Networking and Security for one of the projects I am working on. With all the new changes in vCloud Networking and Security version 5.1, deploying an edge device needs a little understanding. I have written this blog article to walk you through the steps involved in deploying an edge device, and what to look for when you have deployed it. The following steps show how to deploy a vCloud Networking and Security edge device through the vCloud Networking and Security Manager. Login to the vCloud Networking and Security Manager (formerly and still called vShield Manager) Expand Datacenters, and select the datacenter you want to deploy your edge device in, and select the tab Network Virtualization Select Edges. You will be shown a list of the current edge devices. Click the green plus to add a new edge device Type the name you want to call the edge device. This is the virtual machine display name you will see in vCenter. vCloud Ecosystem components explained
During VMworld Chris Colotti and I presented quite a few group discussions on VMware vCloud. During these discussions some people were amazed to find out how many components/products are involved in making up the vCloud environment. When planning on building a VMware vCloud, you are not just installing vCloud Director and pointing it to vSphere, you are designing/building a whole Ecosystem. The list below shows which components are used in building a full vCloud environment. Cannot add groups to vCD after configuring LDAP
I discovered today building a new vCD 1.5 home lab, that once you configure the System LDAP, you dont have the option to add any LDAP groups. This confused me, it was possible to do this in 1.0.x. Why isn’t it available in 1.5? What I discovered is that the GUI is still configured for non LDAP authentication. Once you have configured LDAP and started the synchronization log out of the vCloud Director GUI and back in. You will then see that groups is listed under the administration tab. The GUI needs to update its configuration options. Simple solution, but still confusing until you realise.
